Registration Open for 2014 Polar Bear Plunge | Community Spirit
It takes courage, bravery and a little bit of crazy to be a Polar Bear Plunger.
Registration is now open for the 2014 Polar Bear Plunge presented by Minnesota law enforcement, benefiting Special Olympics Minnesota. The event will be Saturday, February 15 in Duluth. According to a press release, this is the 17th consecutive year of the Polar Bear Plunge. The event is part of the year-round Law Enforcement Torch Run®, which supports more than 7,700 Special Olympics Minnesota athletes, as they train, compete and transform themselves, their communities and the world. Each year, law enforcement lend their time, energy and enthusiasm to host a variety of fundraising events to raise funds for and awareness of Special Olympics Minnesota.
Brave Plungers will jump into frigid Lake Superior as individuals or as a member of a team to raise money for Special Olympics Minnesota. Although each participant must raise a minimum of $75 to Plunge, the average Plunger raised more than $200 in 2013.
