Plenty of Skating Fun in Duluth | Events

Duluthians have several opportunities to skate as the year winds down.
Bayfront Park's outdoor skating rink, surrounded by twenty- to thirty-foot pine trees, and the Bayfront Family Center are now open for the season. The rink will be open every day except New Year's Day (Tuesday, Jan. 1) as weather permits. Hours are 1 to 8 p.m. Dec. 27 to 31. Starting Jan. 2, hours will be Monday to Friday from 4 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, indoor skating is available at Heritage Sports Center, 120 South 30th Avenue West, during the holiday break. The skating began Wednesday and continues Thursday, Dec. 27 and Friday, Dec. 28 from 10 a.m. to Noon both days. Skating is free and open to all ages but you must bring your own skates.
The DECC will host a free skating party on Saturday, Dec. 30 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the DECC Arena. The event will feature cookies and music provided by Shelly's Mobile Music Machine. Kids under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult and you must bring your own skates.
Additional DECC skating parties are set for Sunday, Jan. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 24 from 3 to 5 p.m. both days in Amsoil Arena. The January party will be a "Skate with the Bulldogs" event.
