Capitol Report: Firearm Law Changes
Politics

About a dozen proposals to change current gun laws in Minnesota gained the spotlight in the House Public Safety Committee this week.

On this week's Capitol Report, Julie talks with Senate Judiciary Committee chair Ron Latz, DFL-St. Louis Park, about his multi-step proposal to curb gun violence and Rep. Tony Cornish, R-Vernon Center, about efforts to alter current gun laws.

Governor Mark Dayton delivered his third State of the State Address, emphasizing his budget approach, which includes new state revenue, providing more funding for higher education, and his view the all Minnesotans, including those in a same-sex relationship, should be allowed to marry. Capitol Report features highlights of his speech and the response from Senate Minority Leader David Hann and House Minority Leader Kurt Daudt.

Finally, Matt Schmitt, DFL-Red Wing, offers his perspective on joining the Minnesota Senate and issues facing his Mississippi River community.

Capitol Report is a production of Minnesota Senate Media Services, a non-partisan, taxpayer-funded organization.
